NORWAY-THE PLAICE TO BE
Over the last few years, I’ve been visiting Norway sampling the delights of the shore fishing that this country has to offer; believe me, it’s a sea angler’s paradise.
I mainly stay at Skarnsundet Fjordsenter as a guest of Phil Dale. Over the time we have spoken of our passion for plaice fishing; being brought up so close to the muddy banks of the River Thames I have a love for all flatfish, but plaice are my favourite. Phil and I have been talking since before last Christmas about the expectations of›spring and the local plaice fishing. Phil has been putting a lot of time and effort into finding new plaice holding areas from the shore around Skarnsundet and the local ›ords, studying local sea charts to find holding areas. It’s widely believed that these fish stay within the deeper parts of the ›ord through the colder months, heading for the shallower ground during spring to feed in depths of around 10m.
