Fishing the shallow sandy surf beaches found around the UK and Ireland is one of sea angling’s jewels. Standing amongst breaking white water is a magical experience and one that can yield some incredible rewards. At the outset though (and speaking from experience from when I was still a teenager, and getting it all wrong) one of the key things to get right is to be able to read the beach and gain an insight into where fish advancing with the tide will drop in to feed.

This allows you to fish far more effectively.
