Long-time readers of AMC and other Chevron publications like The Great Race annuals with good eyesight will know the name Paul Cross. His name in very fine print, accompanies some of the finest motorsport photographs ever taken in Australia. But to describe Paul Cross as just a motorsport photographer is to sell his achievements short. There is much more to the man than just being behind a camera.
“My first race meeting was Bathurst Easter 1960,” Cross recalled recently. “I went up there with a box brownie and had a fair bit of difficulty shooting anything of printable quality. I moved onto a much better Leica camera for the October ‘60 meeting where Jack (Brabham) turned up. My third meeting was the opening of Warwick Farm (’60) and
