I had a very rude introduction to the vagaries of being involved with one of the big players in Australian touring car racing – and by that, I mean the team itself and not just the drivers of the Holden Racing Team.

As PR manager, my concept of the job back then was to coordinate the media activities of the drivers and team personnel as well as organising the drivers’ diaries for sponsor and public appearances. I thought that once I got them to where they had to be then that’s it: job done, Wally.
