EDITOR’S LETTER nā Susanna

ike thousands of New Zealanders right now, I’ve been doing time in “iso”. My son caught Omicron and between us and the outdoor shed where he slept, we managed 10 days of avoiding each other’s airstream. More than ever I’m grateful for writers and filmmakers. As we go to print, the Oscars are yet to be judged. The film, if you’ll excuse the pun, is hardly the underdog; she may hit it for six and win them all. Regardless, her name deserves to ring out for her work, which ranges from cult hits to mainstream masterpieces. I know magazine coverlines trade in hyperbole but our vote is unequivocally for the world’s greatest female film director.
