Long before the name Pathfinder was popularized by Nissan for its well-known Sport Utility Vehicle, it was used on a Canadian Pontiac car line. The Pathfinder was one of three Canadian Pontiac series manufactured at the General Motors of Canada assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario, in the 1950s. The offerings started with the Pathfinder as the base model and worked up to the fancier Pathfinder Deluxe and the Laurentian.
Car-based Pontiac sedan delivery trucks were first offered in Canada in 1938. They were constructed on a Chevrolet chassis, and the bodies were mostly Chevrolet with Pontiac
