Where did you first see kiting and what was it about it that grabbed your attention?
I grew up racing small sailboats and we would occasionally go to Squamish to train in the strong wind. When I saw kiteboarders jumping over us and going much faster, I decided that was going to be my progression out of sailing. I was getting a little tired of the sailing repetitiveness with strict courses and harsh regulations. The freedom and creativity kiting offered was what really called me.

So stoked to see your progression through the years. It seems like you’ve been able to quickly learn a huge bag of tricks, but the past few months you’ve really found your own style and you’re making it look good. Did you start doing anything differently?
I think the biggest turning point in my riding was spending an entire summer in Squamish. In past years I would travel to different spots for park events and to get a bit of a change of scenery, however that meant less time freestyling in Squamish.
