The allure of colour is undeniable, but its wholesale use in product design is a relatively recent development. explores how colour has influenced furniture, fabric, lights and decorative objects from Bauhaus to, before moving on to Australia’s own Adam Goodrum’s contribution to the genre in the late 1990s. But isn’t solely focused on the past. The anthology ends by pondering “how long we can sustain the obsession with colourful objects in our homes before saturation occurs” and we again seek the sanctuary of the natural timbers that dominated the early 20th century. Until then, may colour reign supreme.
