PORTRAITS AND PEDIGREES OF SONS AND A DAUGHTER OF RYSDYK’S HAMBLETONIAN
The conformation analyses presented in this article are based on this group of images. Quantitative analysis is never enough, however; the prospective buyer or breeder needs to look at the horse “in the flesh” in order to gain an impression of the harmonious integration of all the body parts. The resemblance of some of these horses to their sire RH is immediately apparent, but less so in others. Every portrait in this gallery was made from a contemporary photograph taken either by Schreiber & Sons or by George Ford Morris. The image of Black’s Hambletonian is the only one that I did not produce; it comes from an old postcard. Brief pedigree information is given for most of these horses, while the reader may review complete pedigrees of Sparkle, Echo, Electioneer, Harold and Jay Gould.
