Tuning up for spring at last

The first day of March, we are told, marks the beginning of meteorological spring. I am not sure what other sorts of spring there are but, for me at least, as surely as 1 September is the first day of my autumn, so 1 March marks the end of my winter and ushers in another spring, even if it is snowing.
