Lisha Leeman

FOR every show horse breeder, the pinnacle is to land a championship at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) with a home-bred. Imagine, then, how it must feel not only to watch one of your “babies” trot down the centre line at the Birmingham NEC, but for it to be ridden by your beloved son-in-law.

In 2021, Lisha Leeman’s Kellythorpes Obsession (BamBam) secured first the large riding horse of the year class, then the overall title, ridden by Frazer Atherden.

“I’m a very lucky lady,” says Lisha. “It’s not every day you get to see your son-in-law trot the centre line at HOYS on your home-bred. Last year was our best year of showing by far. I’m so proud of my team and we all have the same opinion and outlook on showing. Janay [Lisha’s daughter] and Frazer share the passion, they are very talented together.”

It is typical of Lisha that she is so quick to praise her team and, certainly, achieving such success is generally a team effort. But luck?
