Setting up a design business takes time – and the right portfolio. This was the challenge facing Alexandra Mowday, who left a large studio a few years ago to start a new architectural practice. “I was wanting to build up my practice, but it’s quite difficult to get new projects,” she explains. “So I thought we could take all of the money we have – and all the money we don’t – and build a house in Mosman so I could start hitting up my network.”
Alexandra and her husband, Hylton, sold their apartment in the area and started searching for the right project, eventually coming across a dilapidated 1920s bungalow just a few streets away that
