LEGENDS

Sometimes events come together and a man—often just one man or sometimes a woman or even a place or a village—becomes a legend due to something he’s done or something that’s special about him. Some-people notice and are grateful. Others are jealous or who, like the mythological Prometheus, visit the sun and bring man fire.

Prometheus was appreciated for a time, then punished by Zeus for becoming famous and giving man the gift of fire that would allow man to live through cold, provide light, allow him to cook and make life more pleasant. Fire was a tremendous gift and Prometheus received much praise—at least at first. Then, thanks to the mythical Pandora opening the box with which she had been entrusted, others got jealous because they had not thought of giving man such a gift, and hated Prometheus as a result.
