The Painter’s Book of Magic

Bob Brandt

If you want an explanation of what painting is, explained eloquently and authoritatively, you’ll find it here. You might, of course, argue that you don’t need this and that you know very well that painting is about representing a scene according to your vision, which might be realistic, impressionist or even abstract. Stay with Bob and me, though, for there is much here to enjoy, analyse and deconstruct. Bob’s main theme is about painting as a with Scheherazade’s life-preserving tales that kept the king eager for the next night’s episode. He enlarges this with a look at the role and involvement of the viewer, and even wider senses such as taste and touch.
