Making a former church one’s home and furniture-design studio is a rather unorthodox move. But then Cape Town designer Haldane Martin and his wife Danielle have never really followed the path of the ordinary.

Their bedroom and kitchenette, tucked away under the church’s wooden stage, demonstrate their non-conventional inclinations. So too does the way in which they’ve transformed the actual church into a showroom.
