This month we will be highlighting another great DX organization, The Southwest Ohio DX Association (SWODXA). I have known many of the members of SWODXA for years, especially since they have been sponsoring the Dayton DX Dinner every year. I have had the honor of presenting the annual CQ DX Hall of Fame awards at this dinner several times. I thought it would be great to have them share a little bit of their history, and what they do. Perhaps sharing more of these DX organization “overviews” will give us all some fresh ideas for our own DX clubs.

The Southwest Ohio DX Association (SWODXA) is one of the country’s premier amateur radio DX clubs. Informally created in mid-1977 by Dayton amateurs including Frank Schwab, W8OK (SK); Steve Bolia, N8BJQ; Ron Morefield, W8ILC (SK); and Scott Lehman, N9AG (SK), the club had its first formal organizational meeting in August 1981 with W8OK being elected our first president. The initial purpose of the SWODXA was to provide a core of knowledgeable DXers to present the DX Forum at the Dayton Hamvention®. Today, the purpose of the SWODXA has expanded to increasing DXing proficiency, promoting outstanding DX achievements and supporting DXpeditions to rare entities.
