Think of the Hex River Valley, and the first image that comes to mind is that of vineyards changing colours with the seasons. But, says Danie Palm, what’s truly remarkable is the wide variety and beauty of the indigenous vegetation. That’s why he started to build an online platform where he’s documenting plants indigenous to the area with photos, a description of each plant, and its location.

“It’s a mammoth task,” says Danie, who built the website himself.
