Experts’ advice

Fordson Dexta

Q I’m having some difficulty with the cold starting of my ’61 Fordson Dexta tractor. I follow the cold starting instructions, giving it around 40 seconds of heat before using the priming pump on the outlet of the fuel tank, but despite this I can crank the engine repeatedly with no joy!

Another issue that has arisen is that the primer pump leaks fuel and is in need of replacement. Somebody suggested using Easy Start, but I am rather reluctant to do this and would like to sort out the problem as soon as possible. Any advice on the topic would be most welcome.
