The Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 was one of the smaller-scale conflicts that involved Victorian Britain, but lives on in films such as Zulu (1964). For those of us with ancestors who fought in the war, finding out about their lives can be difficult. Fortunately, the Royal Engineers Museum in Kent holds a diary that provides a rare eyewitness account, as assistant curator Sam Jolley explains.
