THE OLDEST SURVIVING TRANSPORTER IN THE WORLD

In 1950, this specific VW Transporter was purchased along with several other 1950 Buses by the Radium Company in Wupperfirth, Germany, which manufactures light bulbs and is still in business today. The vehicle was delivered in primer (“no paint” option) from Volkswagen and was painted a non-factory blue color – it then had its logos hand-painted. As an interesting sidenote, one of the original Radium Buses was photographed and used in an official VW “Commercial Bus” brochure.
