APPETITE Ahoy!
Africa – a luxury cruising destination? Not at first sight. Immediate thoughts conjure up disturbing scenes of ships being tossed about in breakers off the Wild Coast, and – more recently – a luxury family cruise to a small island off the coast of Mozambique. Birds of a feather.
In retrospect, I donʼt think my farming family is truly the type to go without seeing land for days on end. But we threw caution to the wind one December and booked ourselves 20 of the cheapest rooms on MSC Sinfonia and departed for Durbanʼs harbour.
Once aboard, what followed was five hours of family bliss as we bathed in the sun, drank cocktails and line-danced with the jolly recreation crew.
