“IF you want something done, ask someone busy to do it” springs to mind when talking to Clare Abbott. The 35-year-old Olympian from Co Down is riding in the form of her life, balancing a second job and building a house. That’s without mentioning her 41% 2021 winning strike-rate, in a season that boasted five international victories on four different horses.

She ended the year as the highest-placed Irish rider at the European Championships and is looking ahead to 2022 with a return to Badminton as the first major goal on her checklist.

“Last year, we had 35 runs in Ireland and 15 wins. We just kept laughing ‘another win and another win’ at every event we came home from, and it was a different horse every week,” she says.

“I have a team behind me that is absolutely amazing. It’s quite a big team. There are a lot of people who play their part, but they all ultimately have the same goals and are very driven and they want us to be successful. My success is the success of the people behind me too. So I know
