Barbecue safety

...MMM’s Deputy Editor is waiting for her parents to buy a new motorhome so she can requisition their rusting heap for short breaks and European wine buying trips (well within the new silly limits, of course)

Cooking outside has several benefits, one is that anything particularly oily or smelly will not fill your ‘van with an unpleasant smell. Plus, there’s a slightly different, dare we say more relaxed, attitude to firing up the gas or the coals.

But, you can’t be too relaxed. Just like you would never leave a pot to boil over on the hob, you should never leave a barbecue alone.

Level ground is a must, no matter what type of barbecue you have.
