When did you open Mutual Muse, and what was the inspiration behind it?

Mutual Muse (MM) has been open for about six years. I’m from the United States where stores like MM are much more common; I fell in love from an early age with the thrill of a secondhand treasure hunt. When I moved to Melbourne eight years ago, I yearned for a store like this and eventually thought I’d better just make it happen myself. I loved Melbourne’s style: a little grungy and experimental, with a real appreciation for local talent – I wanted to see a secondhand option that reflected that. I’m glad I was a little naive
