The Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA)

The Gallery is home to the State Art Collection of Western Australia, which features works from 1800 through to today. Alongside the State Art Collection, AGWA runs a dynamic program of exhibitions and public programs showcasing the best of local, national and international art. Flanked by a community garden and reclaimed swampland and embedded in the hustle and bustle of some of the city’s best hotels, shops, bars and restaurants, the Gallery is a must-do for any art lover in Perth.

The Gallery spans three heritage buildings on the south-eastern corner of the Perth Cultural Centre. While the foundation stone for the Beaufort Street wing of the Gallery was laid in 1901, the modernist main Gallery building was not opened until 1979. The Centenary Galleries were formerly
