Uluru is not only one of Australia’s major landmarks, but is also one of the most sacred and important aboriginal sites. I travelled to the Red Centre in the Northern Territory a couple of years ago and visited some of the most beautiful places I’ve been to so far. These places are now the subjects of a number of paintings I am currently working on.
Step One
Planning and sketching the painting
Good planning is important for success, and this also applies for a painting. Since I wanted to show how impressive this rock formation is, as well as the vastness of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, I decided to use a big stretched canvas in a horizontal orientation for this work.
