Women are known for being savvy shoppers, so it’s no surprise we’re often better investors. We’re less likely to panic-sell when markets fall and tend to be better at financial planning for our families’ futures.

However, Kiwi women are also more likely to retire into poverty. There are some systemic barriers to women’s financial health, such as the gender pay gap (9.1%) and the motherhood gap (a drop in pay when re-entering the workforce).
