Chevy’s OTHER’ Vette

Basic American cars have a history predating even the Ford Model T, and while it’s no longer possible to buy a basic car, there are those who appreciate them.

“Back in the day, when I needed a car to do work,” recalled Eric Kessler, “I had a Plymouth Sapporo, a Mitsubishi, but it was a two-door and had a trunk that was really small. I couldn’t fit much stuff in it, so I wanted to get a four-door, where I could fold the seat down and put a lot of parts and tools in it.

“I didn’t want front-wheel drive at the time, so I bought my first Chevette. I bought it used. It was an ’84 Chevette, and I bought it being four years old. That’s how I got into them, using it for work, and that’s the one that I drove to 250,000 miles.”

The part about “how I got into them” doesn’t got into Chevettes.
