REPURPOSE, restore

this inner-city, double-front brick cottage had had its fair share of adaptations — most of them poorly planned and some blatantly ugly. “In our client’s words, it was an amalgam of several people’s ideas over many decades,” says architect Nick Bell of Nick Bell Architects. Multiple levels, stepped ceilings, disconnected spaces, outdated finishes, and an under-appreciated garden had resulted in a disjointed and dark interior.
