What I find interesting about this year is that we’ve had absolutely dazzling arrays of high watchmaking firepower — perfectly expressed by De Bethune’s Dream Watch 5 created in collaboration with musician Swizz Beatz and the incredible De Bethune × Kari Voutilainen Kind of Magic masterpiece created for my friend Luc Pettavino’s Only Watch auction — and, at the same time, extraordinary creativity and success from all across the horological spectrum, beginning with the category affectionally known as “micro-brands.”
