This minimises the chance of having a problem just before takeoff when it may be too late to do anything about it. Your line on the jump is the most important decision you’ll make; avoid holes or sharp edges if possible and stay out of deep ruts that may catch your footpegs as the bike compresses on the up ramp. The smoother the line the better
