Some people wonder why I go back to the African bush ever year. “Don’t you see the same things,” they ask? “No.”

Having been on safari over 30 times, it wasn’t until July 2019 in Amboseli, Kenya, that I kept up with a cheetah chasing a gazelle, arriving just after she caught it. My guide and I were the only ones there. That same afternoon, a bull elephant charged me.

I never tire of travelling there, and I hope to never stop going. I miss the uncountable stars, the smell of wild sage, sweet baby animals, a lion being bothered by a fly, sundowners (the only time I drink gin and tonic) and odd things like lunch bread in the shape of an elephant.

I have an energy in Africa that I have nowhere else. My heart and soul live in the African bush and I will go back as soon as
