When Tracks phones up the Angourie natural-footer he has just finished shaping a board on Baddy Treloar’s old racks. Baddy passed away two years ago but Dakoda spent the better part of a decade living next door to the soul-surfing icon, inhaling all that knowledge and wisdom. Meanwhile, when CT world-beater Morgan Cibilic comes back to Anga’ he’ll spend most days surfing and hanging with Dakoda. Only a year separates the two surfers, who are best of mates.Then there is Dakoda’s younger brother, Harley, a talented soccer player who recently ditched his boots to spend more time surfing. On a daily basis, the fraternal duo raid North Coast breaks with their highly inventive act. Typically, you’ll find dad, Jeremy, perched on an elevated dune with a video camera in hand, capturing the dizzying exploits of his gifted offspring. Back in the 90s Jeremy aka ‘Walt’ was a celebrated shredder who dabbled in QS events, featured in surf mags, and claimed victory on the now defunct Australian domestic tour (The ACC). Laurie Towner is in the biosphere too. If Dakoda ever wants pointers on how to ride giants, he only has to turn to Laurie in a local lineup and ask him about it. On top of all this, is the eclectic assembly of shapers, legends, industry moguls, ex-pros and surfing eccentrics who call Yamba/Angourie home. It’s an amalgamation
