The On-Line Revolution
YOU really can’t keep a good dance teacher down! As the world has slowly been turning upside down and inside out, Australia’s intrepid and enterprising dance teachers and choreographers have been at the forefront of the on-line revolution that is sweeping the world. In lounge-rooms, kitchens and garages all over Australia, furniture has been manoeuvred out of the way and makeshift dance studios and barres have been set up so dance teachers can reach right into the room to deliver classes.
For most, the move has been about survival in a world where, suddenly, all face-to-face classes have been banned. This was certainly the case for Mad Dance House (www.maddance.com.au)in Brisbane which, overnight, witnessed many people cancel their memberships in the face of lockdown restrictions.
Numerous dance schools and studios have scrambled to flip their delivery to on-line. For the McDonald College in Sydney (), the entire academic (Years 3 – 12) and performing arts curriculum, as well as its after hours program, transitioned to on-line in late March.
