‘YOU DON’T STOP BEING AN ARTIST.’

NEWLY retired from the Australian Ballet and looking forward to her continuing role as resident choreographer, Alice Topp hit a road-block back in 2020. “I retired from dance on the cusp of lockdown. The plan was to stop dancing and continue with my choreographic career. But everything came to a stand-still.” The experience, she says, was like “running full-pelt on a treadmill, and someone hitting the emergency stop button – I face-planted!”
