PLANTS with all-green leaves provide the perfect backdrop for colourful flowers. Then there are plants with all-red, purple, bronze or copperish leaves, as well as all-gold or all-silver leaves: they all have a purpose in our beds and borders. There are also variegated plants – with green parts to the leaves, but with white, cream, yellow or silver markings. Every garden – and home – has the need for a variegated plant, and a growing army of gardeners are choosing them for added interest, colour and texture. Let’s take a sideways glance…
