It is estimated that 13 million pints of Guinness are consumed on St. Patrick’s Day!
In the beginning…
Born in Roman Britain, St. Patrick was said to be kidnapped and taken to Ireland to work as a slave.
He managed to escape and, whilst doing so, had converted the Irish to Christianity setting up many schools and churches.
Folk tales explore his importance, and Ireland continues to celebrate his day with religious services and feasts. It is even said that this day has been celebrated for a millennium!
