When Caerhays’ renowned collection of magnolias begins to bloom, you know that spring has arrived in Cornwall. A froth of pale pink rises above the castle and tumbles over its battlements. This glorious sight is the massed flowers of ‘Caerhays Belle’, a Champion Tree bred in 1951 by Caerhays’ then head gardener, Charles Michael.
