Roy Richter

ROY RICHTER WAS a pretty big wheel in the development of hot rodding and the aftermarket speed equipment industry in the USA, but it was his creation of the Bell crash helmet that garnered worldwide recognition for his company.

Richter was born in 1914 in Dupo, Illinois, but his family moved to the city of Bell, in Los Angeles County, when he was still a child. Like so many young Californians, Roy got hooked on speed, buying his first motorcycle, an Indian Scout,
