    Take three colours

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    ■ Try an effective way to paint white flowers without using white paint

    ■ Discover how to start a painting with the background

    ■ Practise colour-mixing and brush-handling exercises

    I have selected three colours for the following project: cadmium yellow pale, ultramarine blue and permanent rose.

    Preparing your paint

    In order to start painting in watercolour, you will need to prepare your paint. Squeeze a small amount of paint from the tube into your palette, then dip the brush into clean water to ‘load’ it. Take the loaded brush to your palette and let it drip into the palette, then mix.
