Mountain path repairs can be controversial – but context is everything

IN RECENT MONTHS there has been some consternation amongst walkers and hillgoers in Snowdonia about the work being done on a bridleway above Capel Curig by the Snowdonia National Park Authority (SNPA).

The track through Nant y Geuallt from Capel Curig, north towards Crafnant, is being worked on as far as the bwlch to the east of Crimpiau. The work is quite dramatic and, even bearing in mind that things look a lot worse during the construction
