Welcome!
Every year in February, the team make an extra effort to support a cause that is dear to my heart. My darling Aunty Billie died from ovarian cancer more, you might now, or one day, join the dots with regard to your own body niggles. Or perhaps you’ll be talking with a girlfriend who tells you about changes she’s noticed in her body, and you’ll suggest to your friend that she see their GP. That was the case with Tania, who so generously shares her story on Page 20. Her friend Joan recognised the symptoms she was experiencing, and kept nagging Tania until she saw her GP. There is no screening test for OC and the symptoms can be vague and difficult to diagnose. But, the most common are increased abdominal size, or persistent bloating, lower tummy pain, feeling full after eating a small amount, or needing to urinate more often or urgently. There are other symptoms you should know, and you’ll find more information at . As I write, I’m holding back the tears, and I can hear my Aunty Billie’s fabulous laugh, as she says ‘You tell ’em, Linda!’ So I hope you don’t mind if I do. The key is to listen to your body. No-one knows it better than you! And if you think something’s wrong, and you’re not being listened to, go to another doctor. Put yourself first!
