STEAM PUNK
Q My Mini has just been fully rebuilt, but when I switch the heater on, I get steam that quickly means I can no longer see where I’m going! It only lasts for a few minutes then clears. I bought the car as completely rebuilt, but there must be an issue somewhere. Could it be an air lock? The temp gauge is fine and all the hoses seem to get hot OK. Lennie S
Steam on the inside of the windscreen after switching the heater on suggests there is water in the demister tubes. As they are only connected to the outside of the heater unit, it is either from water caught in the pipes somehow, or is getting there from a leak in the heater matrix.
