‘Hold my drinks!’

I received the September/October issue of Popular Mechanics last year from my daughter for my birthday, and was amazed at the coincidence of articles and features inside. The write-up on half-lap joints and the features on upcycling – particularly the TV that was turned into a drinks cabinet – caught my attention, and so did the page about the Kreg Multi-Mark tool competition. Here’s why.

We recently altered our house, and I salvaged some melamine boards from the cupboards that were removed. At the same time my drinks and glasses lost their place. I’ve been pottering with wood recently, and decided to do something to remedy the situation. I built my own drinks cupboard next to the braai. (How very South African!)
