PERFECTING CONCEALED CARRY

Over the course of handgun history, it’s been the armament of soldiers and cops that’s driven pistol production, particularly regarding the cartridges pistols are chambered for. Though the 9mm Luger, .40 S&W and .45 Auto cartridges are widely used by citizens who carry concealed handguns, none were designed specifically for that purpose. This seems a bit odd to me, especially when you consider that hunters have been offered a plethora of new cartridges just in the last two decades.

So, the question that begs to be answered is: Why have we not seen a new pistol cartridge engineered for the armed citizen who carries concealed?

We could argue the reasons, but it doesn’t matter anymore, because Federal has done just that. They took a practical look at what someone who carries concealed needs, and then built a cartridge to address those needs. They knew capacity was important, so they constructed a cartridge allowing more magazine capacity than the 9mm allows. They knew terminal performance was critical, so they matched that of the 9mm.
