A cultural loss
fter reading Michael Wood’s article arguing for the return of the Parthenon Sculptures (January), I felt saddened for the Greek people and for their loss of such historical and cultural items. But it made me think: what about Egyptian, Roman or Scandinavian antiquities? Are there coins from different countries and eras [in the British Museum]? What about museums elsewhere, such as in the Vatican or France? Who says what should stay and what should go? What about a painting by an Italian artist purchased by an American museum?
