■ FREIGHT: Belmond-liveried locomotive No. 216 worked the first freight service of 2022, when it hauled a Ballina to Dublin Port IWT train on January 3. While it conveyed only nine box containers, IWT traffic has generally been buoyant, with many trains being fully loaded.
