CLASS 20s have been part of the Bachmann ‘OO’ gauge range since the early 2000s with the first model being released in 2003. There was some debate regarding the shape of the bodyshell and its overall proportions at the time of its release. Both the train reporting disc and centre headcode box versions of the model lacked lighting. It was electronically simple and featured an eight-pin DCC interface socket. The four-axle drive fitted to a heavy metal chassis certainly gave the model considerably better performance over the Lima model, which was welcomed at the time.
