Social housing activist Kwajo Tweneboa has secured help from a Dragons’ Deninvestor without having to go on the show. And that’s not all

Social housing activist Kwajo Tweneboa is already having quite the year.

First, he’s named as one of The Big Issue’s 2022 Changemakers, in recognition of his selfless work speaking up for those left in abject conditions in social housing. And now leading Dragons’ Den investor Steven Bartlett has pledged to support the young activist’s work to the tune of £10,000.

It all came about after Tweneboa, a self-funded campaigner who has exposed appalling conditions in properties owned by some of the biggest housing associations in the country, opened up about the “dreadful conditions” he grew up in during an interview on LBC radio.

After host Camilla Tominey appealed for benevolent backers to help Tweneboa in his work, Bartlett replied, offering the donation as well as camera equipment and mentorship.

Reacting to the support, Tweneboa told The Big Issue: “I’m so grateful for Steven reaching out. I would never have imagined anything like this would happen as a result of my work. I went into campaigning because I care. Care about people and the conditions they are forced to live in, and I’m determined to shake up the UK housing system.

“I’m humbled that Steven has a connection with the work that I do and his mentoring along with everything else will, I’m sure, help me reach my ultimate goal of permanent change for millions within
