After a ringing endorsement from the Queen, a loving tribute from her husband the Prince of Wales and flag-waving schoolchildren greeting her with cheers of “Queen Camilla”, the Duchess of Cornwall was in fine form on her first public engagements since it was announced she will become Queen Consort.
Camilla said she was “very, very honoured” and “very touched” by Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee message, in which she expressed her “sincere wish” for her daughter-in-law to receive the title.
As she marked her record-breaking 70-year reign, the Queen spoke of how her own consort, the Duke of Edinburgh, had supported her throughout.
